Thanks for the reminder; I'm working up an ACKS setting, but I'm still on demographics. Would've gotten there eventually :P.jedavishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08586249502818922886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2657266526705426756.post-52782730818627471142012-03-13T00:28:58.196-04:002012-03-13T00:28:58.196-04:00Pages 235 and 236.Pages 235 and 236.Necropraxishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12716340801054739658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2657266526705426756.post-52078137096111380322012-03-12T23:58:06.283-04:002012-03-12T23:58:06.283-04:00Almost certainly closer to B/X; I think they cited...Almost certainly closer to B/X; I think they cited it as their base. However, I haven't read or played B/X, so I did not feel qualified to make that comparison.

Hmm... what's the page number on the dynamic lairs? I seemed to have missed that bit.jedavishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08586249502818922886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2657266526705426756.post-51052530867868330552012-03-12T23:40:24.338-04:002012-03-12T23:40:24.338-04:00I feel like ACKS is much closer in spirit to B/X t...I feel like ACKS is much closer in spirit to B/X than to AD&D (OSRIC) despite the inclusion of a skill system. Level range, class as race, 3d6 ability scores, etc. The domain construction rules are what really set it apart, in my opinion.

There are lots of other cool ideas sprinkled about too, like generating dynamic lairs based on monster populations.Necropraxishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12716340801054739658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2657266526705426756.post-82279769919780273192012-03-08T01:39:18.852-05:002012-03-08T01:39:18.852-05:00ACKS worldbuilding is heavily focused on demograph...ACKS worldbuilding is heavily focused on demographics, politics, and economics. It works out population densities, gold pieces per peasant of monthly production, prevalence of urban populations, and so forth. Stuff like http://www.autarch.co/2011/07/the-demographics-of-heroism/
and http://www.autarch.co/2011/07/starting-from-the-ground-up-literally/ . And yeah, ability of players to get involved in the world as they reach mid-to-high levels is much better supported than in 3.x. I'm hoping to run a game of this over the summer; interested?jedavishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08586249502818922886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2657266526705426756.post-69079424199360271362012-03-07T15:08:08.204-05:002012-03-07T15:08:08.204-05:00This sounds very intriguing. There are very basic guidelines that should be alot of fun, but ACKS sounds like it lies much closer to creative play on the axis.Tim Vaughanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08663392258327653452noreply@blogger.com
